A rare full day

I actually slept last night. Fell asleep against my will around midnight and woke up around 7. I got a lot of painting done in my class. I have the core painting and one of the panels painted now. I started the second panel. I'll do either 3 or 4 but I need to hurry and move on to the next project already. I went to home depot today to buy some of the fixture stuff I'll use on the painting and panels. I also noticed that they have lots of BIG things that could be used on which to paint. For my second project, I have to make use of stencils somehow, some sort of graffiti style art, which I only tried once or twice in pencil drawings yeaars ago. It was fun though. I wanted to do something earthy and ancient with insects, but I'm not sure yet. For it though, I bought a masonite (hardboard) panel that is a couple feet shy of being my height. It was only like four bucks. I was amazed, because it probably would have cost at least $25 at art supply warehouse. I just hope I have enough gesso. My sister tells me that the board must be sanded before you can gesso it, but I never sanded some of the other masonite panels I painted on, and they are fine. I think she's wrong.
In other news, I was majorly bummed out the other day and painted a little something. It's pretty different from a lot of the stuff I paint, and I'm almost positive I'm not done with it yet, but I'll probably post a w.i.p.
oh and i got a wii the other day.

I just realized I have enough money to buy a Wii and smash bros also. Is it awesome? I want to play it so bad I'd probably strangle a baby dolphin.
I was going to tell you to check out
I've been painting on masonite/hardboard since I was 14. My art teacher in highschool told us that "professional artists' will sand, gesso, sand gesso the hell out of that stuff. But what the hell do they know?
I've never sanded them, I like bits of weird texture in my stuff, like lots of extra chunky textures. Gesso isn't a bad idea though, that stuff is pretty absorbent at first, especially with spray paint. Painting both sides isn't a bad idea if you might be painting thickly.
huh?
